The cold weather is just around the corner, and for many of us it means a lack of opportunity to exercise outdoors. So how do you keep your employees healthy and active indoors? We put together a list of 7 fun ways to keep moving during the colder winter months.
- Offer a weekly onsite group fitness class. Mix it up with zumba, yoga, bootcamp, pilates, strength and insanity classes.
- Set-up a Wii with a Just Dance video game to hold a dance off competition in the office.
- Start a sign-up sheet for an indoor dodge ball, basketball or volleyball league.
- Create an indoor walking path using painter’s tape on the walls and/or floor. Measure how far one “loop” or length is and post around the office. Encourage employees to walk the loop for at least 10 minutes at a time.
- Buy a compilation of workout/fitness DVD’s. Allow employees to rent them out for a week to use at home, when the weather is too cold to get to the gym.
- Fall & Winter mean more TV watching. Poll employees on their favorite fall TV’s shows. Pick the top 3 and create an easy work out game they can do during it. Here’s a list of 43 workouts to do while watching America's top favorite shows.
- Ask employees to share their favorite YouTube workout videos or look up one to do one as a group in the office. One great place to find videos is by Fitness Blender. Their videos offer great quality and huge variety of workouts including: abs, barre, pilates, cardio, yoga, weight loss and more.
