Sweatworking vs. Networking

A new trend is starting to hit the corporate world.

More sales, schmoozing and bonding are being done over a workout rather than a meal filled with heavy food & drinks, according to an article published by Bloomberg Personal Finance

Salespeople are often busy networking with clients. It’s easy to run out of time for a workout and fall into the trap of large, heavy meals; let’s face it, it’s easy to get out of shape.

To combat this issue salespeople are looking to bond with clients over an early morning or lunch workout instead. Salespeople on Wall Street have seen success in this new concept, coined Sweatworking. Though there’s still an argument that dinner and drinks will always win out as the preferred option for entertaining clients.

Countering this argument, Steve Starker, co-founder of BTIG LLC says, “You’re saying let’s go spin this morning, get a sweat and grab a juice after. There’s still the ones that love to be entertained with a good bottle of wine, steak and quiet conversation, but so many people are more health-conscious these days.”

Overall sweatworking is another viable alternative to entertaining clients that has positive health benefits along with a unique bonding opportunity.

What’s your opinion?

Would you try sweatworking, or do you plan on sticking to the steak & wine?
